Tarangire Treetops - Tarangire National ParkOwned by the Elewana Collection, Tarangire Treetops, as with its sisters properties, is an extremely well managed lodge with excellent service and attention to detail. The lodge itself is stunning and unique with the treehouse style accommodation built around or next to enormous Baobab or Murula trees and its' elevated balconies offering spectacular panoramic views of the surroundings. It is worth noting that this property is located about an hours drive outside Tarangire National Park boundaries. There are only a few properties within the park grounds, such as Oliver’s, Little Olivers and Kuro camp. Despite being located outside the park, the camp regularly sees some wonderful visitors, particularly elephants while the Murula trees are in bloom. For those who would like to live out their childhood tree-house fantasies and stay in a high quality lodge, but are prepared to accept a slightly extended journey on their daily excursions, this is an excellent lodge.

The LodgeThe central area of the lodge is on two wooden deck levels and is equiped with a lounge, bar, dining area and swimming pool. On the upper deck guests will find a cozy fire pit to sit around in the lounge and a rustic dining area with ‘dhow’ boat styled wood furniture with a view down to the waterhole where the elephants frequently come to drink during the dry season. The swimming pool is on the lower deck but still offers breathtaking views of the surrounding bush. The lodge also has an outside traditional style dining area and an outdoor fire place.

AccommodationThe 20 tree houses are all built in or next to stunning iconic trees on very high stilts offering remarkable views and privacy from their spacious balconies. We love unusual tree-house style rooms and find they really create a unique ambiance and experience for guests. They are spacious and comfortable with polished wooden floors, an abundance of reclaimed dhow wood and a large, well furnished en-suite bathroom in the back.

Activities and AdventuresIn addition to driving safaris into Tarangire National park, walking safaris and night game drives can be arranged with prior notice and at an extra cost. Due to the location of the lodge outside the park, the slightly busier northern area of the park will be where most of the drives will take place. Despite the camps positioning outside the park boundaries, it is rich with resident game in the vicinity of the lodge! For guests interested in the rich tribal culture of the Maasai, a village tour can also be arranged.
