The Lodge The main lodge is open sided with rustic beams supporting the traditional makuti thatched roof, blending perfectly into the local habitat and yet providing truly luxurious surroundings combined with outstanding service and fine dining. Perhaps the most memorable feature though is the captivating panoramic view across the Kipalala Valley under the brilliant blue African skies. This communal area also includes a small swimming pool offering the perfect way to relax following a day’s adventures in the reserve. In addition to a variety of dining areas and bar, the lodge also boasts a full size snooker/billiard table where the more competitive guests can test their skills against fellow guests or safari guides.

AccommodationThe guest accommodation is set out either side of the main lodge and consists of seven separate bandas (Swahili for “hut”). The bandas are stone walled open fronted palm thatched cottages, all tastefully furnished and include mosquito nets and en-suite western style bathrooms with the unique African open air shower, as well as, spacious terraces with private plunge pools. Each banda includes a telescope for star gazing or game/bird viewing. In addition, the lodge also offers the owners private house for guests, the “Bailey’s Banda” to book exclusively. It provides additional luxury in the form of private dining and its very own plunge pool for those wanting the absolute best on offer. There is also a beautiful tree house for couples, situated outside the camp grounds offering stunning views and guests are invited to sleep there for a night if they stay for at least 4 nights, for an extra cost (with pre-booking).

Activities and Adventures A wide range of activities are offered including open-sided vehicle driving safaris and boating safaris. Due to Beho Beho's location on the hills of Selous, a 50 minute drive is necessary for lake excursions, however, its strategic position means that conditions in the camp are cooler than most of the other lodges in the area. Guests are encouraged to take part in guided walking safaris, with a variety of interesting locations to visit on foot; including the First World War trenches and the grave of Frederick Courtney Selous, after whom the reserve is named.
