Chaka Mobile Camp - Serengeti National Park“Chaka” is a rustic but comfortable mobile camp owned and managed by Duma Explorer. The camp itself relocates twice annually following the path of the great migration and offers both excellent value for money and an authentic bush safari experience. The actual sites are carefully selected to offer pristine locations in this vast wilderness, intended to afford guests the best possible location to witness the legendary wildebeest migration, among others things. To this end, the sites are positioned close to river crossings and watering holes which offer the widest possible variety of wildlife and opportunities to experience big game activity and behavior first hand. Depending upon the timing of your visit, the camp is initially located in proximity to Ndutu Lake south of the National Park in December prior to moving north in May through the Serengeti itself.

The LodgeAs a traditional rustic mobile camp, Chaka is comprised of canvas tents, both for accommodation and dining. The communal facilities are simple but inviting and offer a dedicated dining, lounge and bar area together with a small library. The camp is ecofriendly utilising solar-powered electricity in the dining tent and bedrooms, complimentary drinking water and morning tea and coffee are served to your tent's private verandah.

AccommodationDue to the mobile nature of the camp, the 10 tents, including 1 family unit, are relatively simple compared to some of the other less affordable options in the area. Nevertheless, all offer en-suite facilities with flush toilets and classic bucket style showers. All tents include a large double bed, wooden writing desk and are decorated in traditional handwoven fabrics from Tanzania. Each tent also benefits from private verandas from which you can relax and enjoy the incredible vista offered by the stunning Serengeti National Park.

Activities and AdventuresGame drives in open sided vehicles, alfresco bush dining under the vast African skies and, above all, an authentic bush safari, is just a glimpse of the Chaka experience, (“Chaka” being the Swahili word for “bush”).
