Located in Karatu, on the outskirts of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Gibb’s Farm is the perfect place for guests to stay who intend to visit Lake Manyara or the Ngorongoro Crater.

The LodgeThe property is incredible, with such a variety of plants and birds in their tropical gardens; its such a treat to wander the grounds with the smell of roasting coffee beans, being greeted by their welcoming staff along the way. The restaurant and accompanying lounge areas are wonderfully decorated and offer a variety of options for guests to dine or enjoy a sun-downer. The food is phenomenal and the service is remarkably personal given the size of the lodge. Despite the many activities offered, this property exudes peace and tranquility and is ideal to recuperate during an eventful safari.

AccommodationThe 19 luxuriously spacious and well appointed cottages, including one interconnected unit, are equipped with fireplaces and provide a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, offering a colonial style farm house feel, with unique features and well thought out personal touches. Due to the myriad of tropical plants that surround each cottage, they offer a high level of privacy. The verandas can be accessed through old french style doors and the large ensuite bathrooms boast indoor and outdoor showers.

Activities and AdventuresGenerally guests staying in Karatu do so because if it’s close proximity to Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Gibb’s Farm is located in the middle of the two natural attractions, located only 30 minutes from the crater, making it a great base from which to visit these parks. There are plenty of unusual activities offered directly by the lodge, many of which aim to involve guests in their on-site farm. Milking the cows, collecting eggs, walking or mountain biking through the coffee plantations, roasting coffee beans or helping the chefs bake bread are just a few of the many ways to take advantage of these unusual and varied experiences. Guests can also relax at the spa or partake in a cultural activity in this truly rural region of Tanzania.
