Little Chem Chem Lodge -
Lake Manyara National Park

As with its sister camp “Chem Chem,” Little Chem Chem (nicknamed “the Sunrise Camp.”) adjoins the Tarangire National Park and lies within its very own dedicated wildlife concession. Little Chem Chem offers an excellent standard of traditional tented luxury and is located in an area of wilderness overlooking Lake Burunge. Unlike Chem Chem, the Little Chem Chem Lodge focuses upon game drives and a more interactive safari experience rather than pure relaxation. Guests at this open camp can marvel at the spectacle of local wildlife wandering through the camp itself and the lodge offers open vehicle safaris where guests can observe and photograph the unique tree climbing lions indigenous to this area, together with the magnificent elephant herds. Fortunate guests may even spot an elusive cheetah running down game on the savannah grasslands, or spy leopards, eland and kudu, to name but a few. In addition, Burunge Lake itself attracts a vast range of game and birdlife alike, making this a truly memorable destination.

The Lodge

Little Chem Chem is a small intimate camp offering considerable privacy and given its limited accommodation, may be booked exclusively by groups of family and friends. Located within an acacia forest and surrounded by the towering baobab trees, Little Chem Chem enjoys stunning views across Lake Burunge. Positioned next to a watering hole and completely unenclosed, the camp attracts game and wildlife directly to the lodge.
The main areas deliver a vintage traditional safari atmosphere with elegant and stylish finishing touches. Facilities include a swimming pool, boutique camp shop, fire-pit, indoor and al-fresco dining and picnics under the majestic baobab trees.

Accommodation

Each of the 6 classic safari style tents provide understated luxury and include a large bedroom. The options on offer include three tents with king-size beds, two furnished with twin beds and one family-size tent. Each is tastefully decorated with a desk and rocking chair and includes a dressing room complete with dressing table plus en-suite shower and flushing toilet. Each tent enjoys a private firepit for the cooler evenings to enjoy the majesty of the African night skies while listening to the haunting sounds of wildlife, predators and prey alike.

Options include, traditional game drives, hot air balloon rides and even helicopter charters to gain a unique perspective on this stunning wilderness.
