The LodgeAdorned with beaded chandeliers, gilded mirrors, Persian rugs and velveteen sofas, the lodges' interior is certainly grand with the unusual juxtaposition of grass roofs and Masaai mud and stick manyatta inspired architecture. The lodge is separated into 3 camps, North, South and Tree, ensuring an exclusive intimate feel to the property. Each camp has a main communal area with a lounge and dining room, the interior of which might seem over the top to some, with extravagant furnishings, log burning fires and remarkable views of the crater below. Outside the main area is a beautiful terrace with terracotta finishes, and a large fire, in front of which guests can keep warm and enjoy an evening sundowner absorbing the vista beyond. Guests are made to feel utterly spoilt here with personalised butler service and excellent fine dining. Climate conditions on the crater rim may be somewhat adverse at times, but &Beyond has gone to great lengths to ensure a cosy atmosphere within the lodge.

AccommodationThe 30 spacious suites of the lodge are rustic yet charming from the exterior and lavishly decorated, inside in keeping with the rest of the property. Each suite boasts a lounge area with a fireplace, which will be lit by your personalised butler each evening. Equipped with a minibar, ensuite bathroom with double basins, a free-standing bath, shower and flush toilet, the suites offer magnificent views from each vantage point. Guests can enjoy an evening drink or morning coffee on their day beds located on their private balconies.

Activities and AdventuresBy and large, guests visiting the Ngorongroro Crater Lodge do so on a Northern Circuit safari, in order to descend to the crater floor, which can be done with a private guide or with the lodges knowledgeable guides. This is a great location to combine with a Serengeti, Tarangire or Lake Manyara safari. Guests may take advantage of private spa treatments available in their suite, at an additional cost. The Olduvai museum is close by, for those with archaeological interests, and there are hiking opportunities at the Empakaai or Olmoti craters.
