They offer walking safaris and boat safaris for those who would like to explore this game rich area that is comparable to the landscapes over the border in Botswana, but is far less visited. For those who would like to try something adventurous, you can upgrade to their overnight guided boat safaris. Spend your days boating and walking around the area and you nights have dinner cooked for you over an open fire. |
Day 5 - Shametu River Lodge - Okavango River, Namibia
(Riverfront Luxury Tented Chalet: Dinner, Bed & Breakfast) Shametu River Lodge is located on the Okavango River on the Caprivi strip. The lodges is situated close to Popa Falls, which travellers can visit on a sunset cruise. Their luxury tented chalets overlook the river and dense tropical gardens. |
Day 6 - Hakusembe River Lodge - Okavango River, Namibia
(Camping: Roof-Tent) Today you will continue driving down the Caprivi strip to Hakusembe, located near Rundu. This lodge is large and we consider it a bit of a stop over that is necessary on this route. The restaurant offers a nice dinner buffet and visitors can enjoy a boat cruise or try some fishing. |
Day 7&8 - Onguma Campsite - Etosha National Park
(Camping: Roof-tent) Today you drive north to the Onguma Reserve on the edge of Etosha National Park. You will stay at Onguma's Tamboti campsite which provides you with your own private site with a private ablution block. As a camper you are also able to use the facilities of the lodge for meals. You can either enjoy game drives within Etosha or in the Onguma nature reserve. Within the reserve it's also possible to embark on guided bush walks and sundowner game drives. |
Day 10 & 11 - Entendeka Walking Trail - Damaraland
(Open-Air Sleeping Platforms: All Meals) You will exit Etosha and take the scenic drive to Palmwag where you will leave your car to embark on an adventurous 2-day guided Walking Trail through the remote wilderness. Spend your days exploring the area on foot, your evenings round the fire hearing stories from your spectacular hosts, and your nights sleeping until a sheet of stars. This is a truly unique and exciting way to become immersed in the flora & fauna of Damaraland. In this region there are rare sightings of giraffe, mountain zebra, oryx, springbok, lion and if you're really lucky perhaps a desert elephant or black rhino. **Alternatively you can opt to stay in Etendeka's Mountain Camp which is simple but comfortable eco-tented camp which is a great base from which to enjoy the area ** |
Day 13 - Spitzkoppe Campsite - Damaraland
(Camping: Roof-tent) Today you will drive to Spitzkoppe, which we think is one of the most beautiful areas in Namibia, consisting of an imposing granite rock formation set in the plains. Here you can walk in the area and climb up to Bushman’s Paradise, a small basin tucked between the domes of rock, where you can view the rock paintings done by Bushman of the past and gaze at the amazing view. The campsites here are very basic but we feel its worth sacrificing luxury to enjoy the beautiful landscapes here. Driving around the park to find a campsite among the rocks is part of the excitement. |
Day 14 & 15 - Desert Breeze - Swakopmund
(Luxury Bungalow: Bed & Breakfast) You will drive to the coastal town of Swakopmund - with palm-lined streets, seaside promenades and excellent bars and restaurants. This is also Namibia's activity centre, here you can do a range of activities, including; seal excursions, kayak tours, quad biking (on sand dunes), scenic flights (up the skeleton coast), desert tours and more. |

(Bungalow: Self-Catering) After setting off from Swakopmund you will continue south to Namib-Naukluft National Park which is home to the iconic vibrant red dunes of Sossusvlei where you'll be staying at Desert Quiver Camp. This small camp is one of the better options in this busy area in Namibia. It offers great value for money and as a self catering property is ideal for self-driving traveler. The camp has a pool and bar area with a small waterhole frequented by Namibia's iconic animal, the oryx. We recommend getting up early watch the sunrise over the dunes! |
