The LodgeThe main communal area or “mess”, central to the camp and is an open sided tent that catches the breeze from any direction. This area includes bar and restaurant facilities which lead out to the pool in which guests can unwind and cool off after a busy day in the reserve and from which wildlife activity can be observed in the wilderness beyond. The restaurant offers a wide range of meals to cater for every dietary requirement, starting with an option of buffet or fully cooked breakfast, light buffet lunches, afternoon tea through to relaxed three course dinners accompanied by fine South African wines. Meals can be enjoyed in the shade under canvas or al-fresco under African skies.

AccommodationComprising of eight individual tents, including one family unit, the accommodation is beautifully presented; nestled under the shade of trees, each tent is raised upon a stone platform and blends into the natural habitat, each being well spaced to afford privacy to guests. The tastefully furnished living/sleeping areas offer understated luxury and are sympathetically partitioned by reeds to offer private indoor and outdoor bathrooms. Each en-suite includes powerful hot/cold showers, double basin sinks and flushing toilets and the camp offers complimentary laundry facilities. The private verandahs offer the ideal perch for game viewing with gazelles and giraffes often grazing nearby.

Activities and AdventuresA wide range of activities are offered including open-sided vehicle driving safaris, motor-boat and walking safaris, and fishing. Fly camping can also be arranged between June and October for those over 16 years in age and is an adventurous way to explore this remote region of Tanzania. Selous is one of the countries best locations to encounter the elusive and endangered wild dog, and with an abundance of other large game, will not disappoint!
