Ikuka Safari Camp - Ruaha National ParkSituated on the escarpment over the Mwagusi River, Ikuka camp offers spectacular views of the true wilderness that makes up this remote region of Ruaha National Park. Known for expert guiding, Ikuka is owned and run by Mark Sheridan-Johnson, who was born in the region and is an experienced guide and camp manager. Only a 20 minute drive from what is considered to be the best game viewing area in this vast park, Ikuka does not disappoint in terms of wildlife. Entirely open plan, this unique lodge provides panoramic views of the surrounding bush enabling guests to enjoy the comfort of this exclusive camp while feeling completely immersed in nature.

The LodgeThe main area is a raised wooden structure with a thatch roof; furnished with comfortable leather sofas, carved wood tables, a library, fully stocked bar and plenty of areas to sit back and take in the unrivalled views. The lodge has a stunning infinity swimming pool from which to escape the Ruaha afternoon heat.

AccommodationThe 6 open-sided tents are built into the escarpment ensuring spectacular views from all vantage points. Furnished with sustainable local material and decorated in neutral colours, these tents boast understated elegance whilst blending with their surroundings. They are open plan but provide mosquito nets and linen curtains around the bed which can be left open or closed. The wooden decks that line the outside of the tents provide an incredibly peaceful space from which to watch either the spectacular sunrise or sunset. Each includes a lounge area with a couch, and separate en-suite bathroom with a rainfall shower and twin stone washbasins.

Activities and AdventuresOpen-sided 4x4 vehicle driving safaris in this area provide an exciting and private opportunity to experience the remarkable diversity of flora and fauna in Ruaha. Ikuka also offers excellent walking safaris, affording guests the opportunity to explore this remote region on foot. This can be arranged with a days's notice, depending upon the season. Photographic safaris can be arranged for guests who would like some assistance in capturing the perfect wildlife shot, in addition to pre-booked cultural village tours.
