Located on the coast of Tanzania, this is the only mainland coastal property we recommend for our clients. On a seemingly endless tranquil stretch of beach with bright white sand and crystal-clear waters, guests may come across children or fisherman from the local village on their way out for the day. The lodges' unique adjoining coastal forest and adjacent freshwater lagoon create an exotic and mesmerising landscape in which to relax after a long journey. Day 3-6 Jongomero Camp - Ruaha National Park (3 Nights, All-in)
After an early breakfast, catch your 10-minute charter flight from Ras Kutani to Dar Es Salaam. From Dar Es Salaam, you will take a scheduled light aircraft flight to Ruaha National Park. At the airstrip, a guide will pick you up and drive you to the lodge, the safari begins from the moment you land!
This is the only lodge located in the South-Eastern part of Ruaha National Park, making it the epitome of a wild remote bush experience with an old-world safari feel. The lodge itself is situated on the Jongomero river which only flows for part of the year and otherwise serves as a clear pathway for animals to cross that can be viewed from the swimming pool, main area and all 8 of the tents. Built from wood and thatched palm leaves, with canvas lining, the tents are spacious and elegant, offering privacy and comfort within traditional surroundings. All of which boast dhow wood beds, large ensuites, and charming raised verandas. Elephants and lions wandering alongside the camp are a regular occurrence, so much so, that many of the ‘regulars’ are named and known by the staff. Jongomero offers rustic luxury with personalised attentive service, excellent dining and hosting!
Included in this special journey will be one night Fly camping (depending on the season) in Ruaha National Park. Fly camping provides guests the opportunity to become completely immersed in the bush, spending days on foot exploring, and nights by the fire regaling tales of safari adventures or star gazing. Fly camping is the term for a temporary camp site set up in the bush that can be quickly erected and removed in order to ensure the best game viewing locations. The tents are temporary but what they lack in luxury they make up for in providing an authentic bush experience. Dinner is cooked on the fire and served communally so guests can chat with one other and the knowledgeable guides accompanying them.
Activities Offered: Game Drives, Walking Safaris, Fly Camping
